About TOMMASO SHELLFISH
“We’ve built this business in the middle of nowhere and grow some of the best oysters in the world”
Tommaso Shellfish is a small family owned and operated oyster farm. Our farm is nestled in the cold remote waters of Sea Otter Sound, near
Prince of Wales Island, Alaska.
We use a variety of gear methods to grow our oysters and it takes approximately 2-3 years of care for them to reach market size.
Our techniques allow us to handle and harvest our oysters mostly by hand.
We aim to be good stewards of the sea and take pride in growing Pacific Oysters that reflect the pristine and remote environment of
Sea Otter Sound’s coastal landscape and surrounding old-growth temperate rainforest.

Our Story
Since 2006
In the late 1960s, James Greeley Sr. grew up in a logging camp in Sea Otter Sound.
In 2006, he came back and started the oyster farm along with his son, Jimmy.
The farm was started from scratch.
Our timber floathouse was locally milled and built from the water up.
Today, daily operations are managed by a team of 2 people (Jimmy & Katie).
